Zhibit.org was launched in 2005 with the simple premise of empowering artists to create a website to showcase their art online as inexpensively and as easily as possible. In today's world an internet presence is more important than ever yet the technology for creating and hosting a website still eludes many due to its complexity and cost. As an artist, we know you want to concentrate on that which you do best - art - and not worry about designing your website, nor pay through the teeth to have a web designer do it for you.Zhibit.org is our small way of helping the artist community help itself. | | Founded 2005 |
Zhibit LLC was founded in 2005 with the intent of providing artists with high quality hosted websites at affordable prices. The idea sparked after Brian Willis, founder of Zhibit LLC, visited Union Square in San Francisco where as often is the case several artists were exhibiting their art for sale. Brian developed a liking to the work of one of the artists and asked for her business card with the intention of checking her website later. The artist replied that her website was in disarray and out of date. Brian suggested designing her a new website in exchange for one of her paintings but the idea was quickly dismissed because the effort involved in creating, hosting and maintaining her website over time would have been too great.Two weeks later it dawned on Brian that the same effort that it would take to create and host one website could benefit more than just one artist. The idea to offer self-administered website creation and hosting as an online service was born! It took a few months to get the right people together and develop the technology but soon thereafter Zhibit.org went online for the artist community. By 2008 it became apparent that the same technology that had been benefiting artists for three years was now ready to address the more demanding needs of the small business community. Zhibit.com was the inevitable conclusion. And the rest is history... Today Zhibit LLC remains a small shop. We believe it puts us in a position to be on the artist's side rather than on that of a large corporation's. Many in our small group of dedicated individuals are themselves artists in their spare time and as such are attentive to what artists need. The services we offer on Zhibit.org are the same ones we'd like to see ourselves.
