About
A magenta and vermillion sunset at the Pismo Beach Pier, a honey colored furry friend, a weathered monumental bridge cutting thru the heart of Los Angeles, these are just some of the subjects that artist Gay Melody Sullivan has captured with the use of paint and paper.

The galleries of Taos and Santa Fe nourished a dormat desire to create art, and placed Gay Melody Sullivan on a path that would lead her to a new world. Faces and places from the past, talking to her in the present. The marvel that painters from centuries ago, were able to capture life and put it on a canvas, inspired her passion to folow this unlikely dream.

Although she had an ample aptitude for creativity, her painting skills needed improvement. Fortunately her metropolitan location gave her access to an outstanding teacher, Timothy J. Clark. The years of study with this world class instructor gave her the skills to work in many mediums and create images from a vast variety of subjects.

Miss Sullivan began painting the Central Coast long before she became a resident. Her lists of subjects to paint in this vast county, far exceeds her lengthy list of paintings completed. She recently developed a sense of urgency to capture the rapidly changing landscape of San Luis Obispo County, for she's witnesses the strawberry fields of Orange County get covered with cement and asphalt, and realizes how quickly the beauty of nature and fragile historic buildings can be lost.

This Summer Hay Melody will be giving art classes at her home studio in Avila Beach. She believes it's her duty as an appreciative student that she shared the knowledge with others.
