I have studied and applied the fine arts throughout childhood and high school, as a college student, post graduate work, and private studies. I received a BA in Education/Fine Arts from Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois. Performance art, comprising piano/lyric composition, dance and drama were my first endeavors. Artist'sModel ~ Studies I began my work as an artist's model in the late 70's, studying with Llyod Glasson, Ted Beille and other established teaching artists and students at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. I became recognized as a model, doing assignments for individuals, high schools, guilds, and universities throughout Connecticut. I often taught as well as modeled. After seven years, I resigned my profession as a model, my efforts then devoted to painting. I have been painting for 25 years, establishing a local presence in Northwestern Connecticut. GalleryWork Presently I am working in mixed media on paper, board, canvas, and wood. A large part of my painting is executed with a palette knife and hands. Another of my favorite explorations is in printing. Greeting Cards ~ PeachBlossom & Utah Series I have several lines of greeting cards. The pen, ink, and watercolor pieces make up what is entitled WhimsyWorld in the PeachBlossom line. The Utah series is computer generated art.
My roots were grown at a farmstead in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, a major inspiration in my work. Life's challenges, soaking up the beauty: translating in paint, it's the endeavor I love most.
